SJSato
Here is an in depth review I came across on the the Formlabs Form 2 SLA printer. It has great resolution however its small build volume may limit its practical use to fabricate full size models. Link to review
Dr. Mike
I've kind of got my eye on one of those. It looks great, but there is a backlog and orders are shipping 3 months out.
Dr. Mike
I got one. Will post a full review soon. It is AWESOME!
paulmbuck
I purchased a form1+ for fabricating maxillofacial models for maxillofacial and head and neck reconstruction. The build volume as you mention is small, but big enough to at least segmentally print most areas of interest. The print resolution and process is fantastic with these but I'm still at the beginning of the learning curve for preparing the dataset for printing and finding this forum today should speed the process! Dr. Mike
Welcome paulmbuck! Please keep us up to date on your experiences with the Form1+. I am using my Form1+ and Form2 primarily for vascular printing, so I am very interested to hear what your experiences are for maxillofacial applicaitons. Dr. Mike
Here is my review of the Form 2 from Formlabs. It is a great printer. If you are doing medical 3D printing, I suggest you look into it. http://www.embodi3d.com/blog/3/entry-320-the-form-2-desktop-3d-printer-by-formlabs-a-great-buy-for-medical-3d-printing/
kopachini
I am considering to buy Form 1+ so I have, maybe stupid question but approximately how many models can you print with 1L tank of resin? Could it be calculated like 1cm3 of model equals 1ml of resin (maybe more couse of the supports)? Thx.
Dr. Mike
I would guess you can print about 8 models or so if they are big and take most of the build volume. Some of the resin is lost with supports, and some is lost with washing. If you can, I would definitely get a Form 2 over a Form 1+. It may be a bit more expensive, but it will save you a ton of headache and the large build volume will allow you to print models that may not fit the Form 1+
