Improper/ distorted STL file

I tried to converted my NRRD maxillofacial scan file to a 3d STL file and the results were completely distorted as sheen in pictures below

settings used - Detailed bone, 300 (default) threshold, High quality

 

can you please suggest what are the steps I can take to prevent such distortions' ?
