About This File

This model was segmented using 3DSlicer from a reconstructed CT with an IV contrast agent and a slice thickness=0.98mm. The CT scan is from an 80 year old female, 62 inches in height and 135 pounds.  3DSlicer smoothing algorithm was applied.  The model is full size.  The model includes the spine segment, heart, aorta, liver, stomach, spleen and kidneys.  The organs are full size and in the same location as in the CT scan).  The sternum and a portion of the ribs were removed from the model.  The front of the stomach is flat because it was cut off during the CT scan.  The STL file is probably not 3D printable because of the many voids, especially for the liver.  However, with 3DBuilder software (which is available on most PCs) the model can be rotated and viewed in 3D.  This mode is an excellent teaching resource.  For example, the model can be rotated to view the back of the model and the spleen, kidneys, aorta and spine.  Also the model can be rotated to view the bottom and top of the model.
