This model consists of two models (and corresponding STL files): 1) heart/aortic arch model and 2) descending aorta/spine segment model. Each model was printed separately and joined at the aortic/arch and descending aorta by a 3D printed PLA sleeve (shown in photos). The sleeve had an I.D. of 21mm and approximately 25mm in length). A soldering iron fused the sleeve to the models. Some of the aorta was cut off for proper alignment. The separation into two models facilitated 3D printing on the Prusa 3D printer. The models were segmented using 3DSlicer from a reconstructed CT scan with an IV contrast agent and a slice thickness=0.98mm. 3DSlicier smoothing algorithm was applied. The models are full size.
