About sharing or selling files on embodi3D.com

If you are a biomedical 3D model designer and wish to share your files for free or sell a license to 3D print your digital creations, you can do so on the embodi3D website. You must be a registered member to upload files, but registration is free and only takes a few minutes. By selling files you agree to the general website Terms of Use as well as a special Terms of Use for paid file sales.

How does it work?

It's simple! Once you have registered, go to Download and click the Submit a file button. Select the category that your file best fits in. Upload your file and enter in the title, file tags, description, and images of your model. There are two File Types: free and paid. If you select "Paid" for the File Type select "General Paid File License" for the license type. Specify the price you want the file to be sold for. Files cannot be sold for less than $1.99 USD.

You can also choose to share your file for free by selecting Free.

What can buyers do with my files?

If you use the General Paid File License, buyers may make a single 3D print from your digital file. If they want to make more than one 3D print they have to purchase another license from you. They can't resell your files. Note that there are more restrictions on Paid Files than for free files that are distributed under a Creative Commons License. See the General License for Paid Files for more details.

How can I improve my chances of selling files?

Ensure that your files are of high quality. Upload good thumbnail images that show 3D prints created from your file clearly. Don't make your file too expensive in the beginning. Set a lower price and see what happens. Finally, be sure to share a link to your file on your social media accounts.

What fees will I have to pay?

Embodi3D charges a 15% commission and a 10 cent USD transaction fee for facilitating the sale. That means you will get almost 85% of the sale price in most cases.

When will I get paid?

Embodi3D will hold your money. Once your account balance reaches $50, you can request that we transfer the balance to you via PayPal. The account credit page shows how much credit you have earned.

How do I track all the files I have uploaded including those I have for sale?

A list of your files, along with download and sale information, is available under your profile. To go to this page Click the down arrow next to your name in the upper right corner when logged into embodi3d.com. Choose Profile then select See my activity. Now on this page look to the left menu and under Downloads select Files. If you are logged in this link will take you to your Files page.

Can I use my credit before it is sent to me via PayPal?

Yes. You can use your credit to purchase other models on the embodi3D website.

What can't I upload?

You must comply with our Terms of Use. But more generally, you cannot upload files for sale that you do not own and are not authorized to sell. You can't upload files that contain someone else's trademarks or intellectual property, and you cannot upload any files that contain identifiable patient information.

OK, I am ready to start selling and uploading my files. What's next?

To get started go to Download and click the Submit a file button. Remember, only registered members can upload files.
