  • democratiz3D™ Processing Help

What is purpose of this page?

This page is to help you successfully process files using democratiz3D. Here you will find helpful information on how to prepare your file for processing. If your file is not processed you can find common reasons and solutions.

What are the most common reasons files are not processed?

    • Your NRRD file originated from an MRI. Currently, we only process NRRDs from CT scans.
    • You tried to process individual slices instead of a complete study.
    • The NRRD file you uploaded is very poor quality and therefore can't be converted to an STL file.

The message I received included an error code. What do these error codes mean?

The error codes are used by embodi3D support staff to diagnose why the file did not process. If you contact us about your file please include the error code.

Error code 004: Processing takes too long

In some cases you may see error code 004. This means processing took too long. This can happen for a variety of reasons with one of the most common involving the medical scanner used to generate the images. The timeout is happening because the scan uses an edge enhancement algorithm to emphasize the interfaces between bone and soft tissue. This type of algorithm is commonly used when edge detection is very important such as looking for fractures. It is commonly used in dental CT and face CT. The algorithm makes the image look "noisy" or "speckled."

The problem is that each bright pixel gets turned into its only little sand-sized mesh object. The algorithm can get rid of them, but when thousands are created it takes a long time and the process times out. You can see the image labelled" Sharp kernel" displaying the speckled appearance. If your scan looks like this and it did not process after waiting an hour or more then this is most likely the problem.
