The half skull (vertical slice) was segmented using 3DSlicer from a reconstructed CT chest scan without an IV contrast agent and a slice thickness=3.75mm. No smoothing algorithm was applied. The CT scan was from an 80 year old female, 62 inches in height and 135 pounds.
Dental fillings on a CT scan caused “starbursts” since the x-rays cannot pass through the amalgam fillings. These “starbursts” were carefully removed using the scissors option in the 3DSlicer segment editor. The model is full size.
