    Vertebral column (Dorsal, Lumbar & Sacral spine) - STL file from converted CT scan

    The dorsal (thoracic) spine forms the middle portion of the vertebral column extending below the seventh cervical vertebra to above the first lumbar vertebra. The dorsal spine is formed by twelve vertebral bodies.
    The vertebrae forming the dorsal spine are unique in shape as they are the only vertebral bodies articulating with ribs.
     
    The lumbar spine represents the mid-lower segment of the vertebral column and is composed of five adjacent vertebrae. They are convex anteriorly to form a lumbar lordosis. The lumbar spine facet joints allows limited movements and rotation.
     
    The sacrum is the lower most segment of the vertebral column and also forms the posterior wall of the bony pelvis. The sacrum is formed by five fused sacral vertebrae.
     
    This model shows the origin of ribs, few of the cervical spines and the sacroiliac joint. The minimal tilt seen is likely positional rather that pathological.

    Pelvic Bones (female pelvis) 3D Printable STL File Converted From CT Scan

    The bony pelvis is formed by 4 bones; a pair of hip bones, the sacrum and the coccyx. The bony pelvis supports the pelvic viscera and works to transmit force from the axial skeleton to the lower limbs.
    The two hip bones are related anteriorly by the symphysis pubis and posteriorly to the sacroiliac joints bilaterally.   This model if for a 24 years old female pelvis, it shows some irregular shaped pieces related to the contrast media within the colon as well as the upper halves of the femoral bones.   This 3D model was created from the file STS_036. The source CT scan used to create this model can be found here.

    Cervical Spine 3D Printable STL File Converted From CT Scan

    The cervical spine is the upper most spines forming the spinal column, extending from the skull base to the level of the thoracic vertebra (the spines with attached ribs). The cervical spines are usually seven and the main function is to support the skull and to protect the spinal cord.   Apart from the first cervical vertebra (atlas) and the second vertebra (axis), the other vertebral bodies share a general anatomical appearance:
    Oval shaped vertebral bodies with wide vertebral arch, large vertebral foramina and long spinous processes.   This particular model shows parts of the mandible as well as the hyoid bone.   This 3D model was created from the file STS_044.     Pelvic Bones 3D Printable STL File Converted From CT Scan

    The bony pelvis is formed by 4 bones; a pair of hip bones, the sacrum and the coccyx. This particular 3D model shows some irregular material floating within the pelvic cavity which represents a contrast media in the colon, that contrast media is given for patients prior to CT scans to distinguish intestinal loops.   This 3D model was created from the file STS_044.     T Spine with dramatic changes from osteomyelitis.

    TSpine CT taken on 06232017, with dramatic changes from osteomyelitis at T8-T10.  Osteomyelitis was first found on 01/23/2017.  Osteomyelitis could have been caused by frequent steroid injections for lumbar pain spine. PT presented to ER with major UTI, cramping and muscle spasms in the thoracic levels of the back.  PT complained of a very big increase in pain levels, normal 3-4 to 9-10.  This scan was after dorsal column stimulator and paddles were removed, paddles were located at the T9 level.
     
    Would appreciate suggestions and comments of how to improve my scans convert and .STL files.

    • Valchanov,   I downloaded the file and took a look. I see right ventricular hypertrophy, a large VSD, pulmonary valve atresia/stenosis and an overriding aorta that is also on the right side. I think this is Tetrology of Fallot. It is a cool scan! Dr. Mike
    • Hello Can you give me some background information about the health condition of the patient? The set is excellent, but there is something really wrong with the anatomy of this heart. I want to model it properly.
    • The whole time I was thinking that I'm doing something wrong, because it's impossible for a TAAA to be that big. This was beyond everything I ever saw for 22 years of medical education and experience. But yes, it's THAT big. I segmented the lumen, I added 2 cm margin around it to create a hollow shell, then I added the media of the aneurysmic sack and all the atherosclerotic plaques for extra realism.
